Knowing The Very Talented Emmy Award Winner Rick Overton

It is a fact that the American television has been successfully graced with really outstanding talents, many have lasted through time. There are those whose careers were really short-lived. However, there are those that were actually able to get their careers properly cemented over the years due to their talent, the perseverance, and their devotion to the craft they have chosen, one of these is the outstanding Emmy Award Winner Rick Overton.

He is known as a very reputable script writer. This has been evidence in the nods and recognition that he has secured out of establishing a career penning scripts for the television industry. He is an actor and a comedian too. His comedic side is attributed to the stand-up comedy that he used to do back in his high school years.

He is quite known for many for several writing credits. To date, the most famous of which is his stint in scriptwriting for the Dennis Miller Live series. This has led to him receiving an award for outstandingly penning the script for the show. His credits acting are often associated with films like The Secret Adventures of Jules Verne and Willow.

His birth place is in Forest Hills in Queens, New York. However, he actually grew up in Englewood in New Jersey. It was in Dwight Morrow High School that he finished his secondary education. His mother is Nancy. She was famous for her personal appearances as a member of the famous girl group The Chordettes. They are known for their famous songs Mr. Sandman, as well as Lollipop. Hal, his father, used to be a band arranger. He was associated with Thelonious Monk. He's a music teacher from the Milliards Institute. Also, he hails from a family of musicians.

His first onscreen appearance was in 1982 for the Young Doctors in Love film. This was followed by a small role which he played for Airplane II: The Sequel. He then penned New Adventures of Beans Baxter back in 1987. While doing so, he was also appearing on television shows and films that include Willow, Million Dollar Mystery, and Amazing Stories among others.

He has dabbled in the music industry as well. He is known to actually play the harmonica. For occasional performance, he uses this when playing with some of the blues bands in the local scene. In addition, his career as a stand up comedian actually started in high school. This was when he was part of the duo Overton and Sullivan. He has to go solo though in the 1970s.

In 1997, he got a nod of an Emmy nomination for his script writing work for Dennis Miller Live. He already won the same award for the same category as well as the same show the year before. He was also able to get the nod from the panel of judge on the Writers Guild of America and secured a nomination for the same show. This time, it is for the category in Comedy/Variety (Including Talk) Category. Hence, his reputation as a scriptwriter was firmly cemented.

An avid motorcyclist, he's known to take part in many charity rides. For instance, he is a regular in the love ride, which is for the annual ride in celebration of the Muscular Atrophy. He loves to build models in his spare time too and has won awards for the sci-fi category in certain convention.
